Abstract: Title: Recycling of Water Hyacinth and Formulation of Anti-dandruff shampoo The present invention discloses an optimized process for preparing a sustainable, sulfate-free herbal anti-dandruff shampoo formulation utilizing bioactive extracts from Eichhornia crassipes (water hyacinth). Under the optimal extraction method (Method B), cleansed fresh leaves undergo oven-drying and high- energy ball milling to achieve a micronized powder on a 772 nm particle scale. This powder is subjected to continuous solid-liquid Soxhlet extraction using distilled water below 80°C to secure some refined aqueous extract rich in caprice acid and flavonoids. The extract is further processed via cold maceration with mixed companion herbal powders at a 1:1 ratio to generate an optimized formulation (Sample B2). The resulting chemical-free shampoo exhibits excellent physicochemical compatibility, a 66% soil-removal detergency, a surface tension of 51.30 dynes/cm, and an enhanced 19 mm antifungal zone of inhibition against Candida albicans.
