Abstract: This retardation film comprises: a first positive C-type retardation layer; a first positive A-type retardation layer; and a laminate including a second positive C-type retardation layer and a second positive A-type retardation layer, said retardation layers being laminated in this order. The first positive C-type retardation layer is directly contiguous to the first positive A-type retardation layer. The second positive C-type retardation layer is directly contiguous to the second positive A-type retardation layer. When the thickness direction retardation at a wavelength of 550 nm of the first positive C-type retardation layer is denoted by RthC1(550), the thickness direction retardation at a wavelength of 550 nm of the second positive C-type retardation layer is denoted by RthC2(550), the in-plane retardation at a wavelength of 550 nm of the first positive A-type retardation layer is denoted by ReA1(550), and the in-plane retardation at a wavelength of 550 nm of the second positive A-type retardation layer is denoted by ReA2(550), expressions (i)-(iv) hold.
