Abstract: ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION Personal safety during travel remains a growing concern, particularly in urban areas and during late hours, where users often lack awareness of potential risks along their routes. Most conventional navigation systems prioritize efficiency by suggesting paths based on shortest distance or minimum travel time, without considering important safety-related factors such as crime levels, environmental conditions, or population density, creating a gap between route convenience and user security. This project introduces a safety-focused navigation system that analyzes multiple risk parameters to recommend the safest route between a given source and destination. A modified path selection approach is applied to evaluate routes based on overall safety rather than distance, and the route with i the lowest aggregated risk is identified and recommended to the user. The system utilizes a Gradient Boosting model for safety prediction and achieved an R2 score of 97.66%, demonstrating high prediction accuracy and reliable performance in route safety evaluation. The developed Safe Route Prediction System demonstrates how safety-aware routing can enhance navigation by intelligently adapting to different risk conditions and recommending safer travel paths, emphasizing the importance of integrating safety intelligence into modem navigation systems and providing a foundation for future enhancements using advanced analytical techniques.
