Abstract: A robotic instrument comprises a backend hub assembly (402), a shaft (404), and an end effector assembly (406) having a first electrically insulated movable jaw (408) and a second electrically insulated movable jaw (410) pivotably connected about a pivotal connection (420). The jaws include opposing curved surfaces (414, 416) that, upon closure, define a tissue receiving region and a continuous line of contact (802) for concentrating bipolar electrical energy. The concentrated energy enables effective vessel sealing and tissue division without requiring a mechanical blade. A cable-driven drive mechanism (412) actuates jaw opening, closing, articulation, and synchronized retraction during energy delivery. The instrument may further include a sensor configured to monitor tissue impedance and adjust energy delivery parameters. The curved jaw geometry provides uniform tissue compression, minimizes lateral thermal spread, and enhances sealing, cutting, and coagulation performance in minimally invasive robotic surgical procedures.
