Abstract: ABSTRACT ROTARY ELECTRIC MACHINE A rotary electric machine (1) includes a housing (13), a stator (11), a rotor (12), an outer fan (101), a motor (102), an outer fan cover (111), and an opening/closing 5 member (150). The outer fan is provided outside the housing to blow air toward the housing. The outer fan is placed inside the outer fan cover. The outer fan cover covers the outer fan and is provided with air vents (121c) allowing an inside and an outside of the outer fan cover to communicate with each other. The opening/closing member is movable between an opened position where the air vents are opened and a closed position 10 where a flow of water through the air vents is restricted in a submerged state of the outer fan cover. The opening/closing member moves from the opened position to the closed position in accordance with submergence of the outer fan cover.
