Abstract: The invention relates to a rotor (9) of a rotary permanently excited synchronous machine (1) comprising embedded permanent magnets (14) of a pole (19) which, when viewed from the direction of the outer diameter (18) of the rotor (9), are arranged in a convex or trough-shaped manner and are positioned within substantially axially extending recesses (13) of a laminated core (11) of the rotor (9), wherein each recess (13) has a pocket (36) for accommodating one or more permanent magnets (14), wherein flux barriers (34) are located at the opposite ends of the pockets (36) of each recess (13), wherein, on the side of the recesses (13) of a pole (19) that faces an outer diameter (18) of the rotor (9), means for enhancing counterfield stability are at least partially provided in the region between the pocket (36) and the flux barrier (34), wherein, in order to enhance counterfield stability, ribs (21) and recesses (13) are designed in such a way that counterfield stability is also ensured in the central region of the pockets (36), by satisfying the following conditions: D1 = 2xD0 and D2 = 0.7xD0.
