Abstract: RP-HPLC ANALYTICAL METHOD FOR THE ESTIMATION OF ACETYLSALICYLIC ACID TABLETS BP (SOLID DOSAGE FORM) The present invention relates to a validated analytical method for the estimation and quantification of acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) and its impurities in pharmaceutical solid dosage forms using reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC). The method employs dissolution testing with USP Apparatus 1, utilizing a pH 4.5 buffer as the dissolution medium. Chromatographic separation is achieved using a stainless-steel column packed with octadecylsilane chemically bonded to porous silica (5 µm), an isocratic mobile phase consisting of orthophosphoric acid, acetonitrile, and water, a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min, and detection at 237 nm. The method ensures accurate impurity profiling and aspirin quantification, with defined retention times for aspirin and impurities A, B, C, and F. System suitability is established through resolution and peak area criteria. This method is precise, accurate, robust, and compliant with pharmacopeial standards, making it suitable for quality control and regulatory compliance in the pharmaceutical industry.
