Abstract: ABSTRACT SAFETY SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROTECTION AGAINST ABNORMAL BATTERY TEMPERATURE RISE IN ELECTRIC VEHICLES A battery thermal management system for electric vehicles and energy storage systems integrates a Battery Management System (BMS) (100) for real time temperature acquisition from battery cell modules (101) with a Controller Area Network (CAN) (102) that broadcasts maximum cell temperatures. The system incorporates a phase change material (PCM) (103) positioned to absorb excess heat via latent energy storage upon exceeding a lower threshold, while a Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) (104) compares temperature and ramp rate data against configurable safety parameters (110) to direct a Motor Control Unit (MCU) (105) to adjust performance, including executing reduced power modes such as Eco mode or LIMP Mode (109). Additionally, the system features IoT connectivity for remote diagnostics, continuously managing battery safety by triggering power cutoff and error signaling when critical thresholds are surpassed.
