Abstract: ABSTRACT SAFETY SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROTECTION AGAINST ABNORMAL MOTOR TEMPERATURE RISE IN ELECTRIC VEHICLES The present invention relates to a motor temperature ramp rate monitoring and control system for vehicles, specifically designed to enhance vehicle safety and performance by managing motor temperature dynamics. The system comprises a Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) equipped with multiple sensors to continuously monitor the motor's temperature and the rate of temperature increase. A processor within the VCU compares these metrics against predefined thresholds, initiating corrective actions such as transitioning the motor to a lower performance mode when necessary. The VCU is further configured to engage a hierarchical intervention system, which includes activating a LIMP mode or directly cutting off motor power via a Key Switch Input (KSI) signal in the event of a Motor Control Unit (MCU) failure. The system also features a communication module for transmitting real-time alerts and diagnostics to an IoT Cloud, facilitating remote monitoring and diagnostics. The invention allows for configurable safety parameters to accommodate diverse motor specifications and operational environments, ensuring fail-safe operation and enhanced vehicle reliability. Ref.
