Abstract: ABSTRACT SATELLITE-BASED QUANTUM KEY DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM The present disclosure provides a satellite-based quantum key distribution system including a plurality of satellites, each satellite having an entangled-photon pair source with a pump laser and a non-linear crystal configured to generate entangled photons. The system includes a plurality of ground-based Quantum Measurement and Entropy Stations (Q-MES), each Q-MES having measurement optics with optical components for directing and mixing photon paths, polarization optics for analyzing photon polarization states, single-photon detectors for detecting individual photon events and recording measurement outcomes, an entropy source configured to generate true random numbers utilizing fundamental unpredictability of quantum measurements, a processing unit configured to perform sifting, error correction and privacy amplification on raw keys, and telemetry and tracking optics configured to facilitate reception of transmitted photons. The system further includes a hybrid key generation module configured to combine quantum key distribution and post-quantum cryptography to generate hybrid keys, a time-multiplexed quantum transmission system configured to coordinate quantum signal transmission by categorizing satellites into odd and even groups with alternating transmission phases, a key management system implementing zero- trust quantum trust nodes using post-quantum cryptography for key management, and a secure communication channel configured to transfer hybrid keys from a quantum layer to a management layer.
