Abstract: The present invention provides a satellite communication system for link budget analysis and adaptive transmission with space debris mitigation. The system comprises one or more web-based application programming interfaces configured to provide real-time atmospheric data and space debris mapping data. A ground station receives the space debris mapping data comprising debris properties including debris density, debris mode, and debris size. The ground station determines location-based space debris density information along a communication path, calculates an added loss in a link budget based on the density information, optimizes a relationship between debris density and signal attenuation using machine learning, periodically updates a catalogue relating debris density to observed attenuation, and transmits control data to a satellite. The satellite receives the control data and adapts transmission techniques using an interference mitigation engine, an adaptive modulation and coding scheme engine, a multi-antenna diversity engine, and a directed beamforming module configured to point beams perpendicular to debris orbits.
