Abstract: A method for a wireless communication device having a first subscription and a second subscription to request uplink grants associated with the first subscription using at least one Radio Frequency (RF) resource, the method comprising: detennining whether a tune-away time interval in which the at least one RF resource is tuned away from the first subscription to the second subscription exceeds a threshold; transmitting at least one scheduling request associated with the first subscription for up to a throttled count in response to the tune-away time interval exceeding the threshold; determining whether an uplink grant has been received in response to any of the at least one scheduling request transmitted within the throttled count; initiating an uplink data Random Access Channel (RACH) process for the first subscription in response to no uplink grant being received in response to any of the at leastone scheduling request transmitted within the throttled count; and transmitting at least one additional scheduling request further to the throttled count in response to at least one uplmk grant being received in response to any of the at least one scheduling request transmitted within the throttled count.
