Abstract: Embodiments of the present application provide a secondary battery and an electrochemical device. The secondary battery comprises an electrode assembly and a case. The case is used for accommodating the electrode assembly, and the case comprises a first wall and a second wall which are opposite to each other in the thickness direction of the electrode assembly. The first wall is provided with a first protruding portion protruding out of the interior of the case; the case further comprises a third wall; the third wall is connected to the first wall and the second wall; the third wall is spaced apart from the electrode assembly in a first direction; the first direction is perpendicular to the thickness direction of the electrode assembly; in the thickness direction of the electrode assembly, the size of the inner surface of the third wall is L1, the thickness of the electrode assembly is L2, and the height of the first protruding portion protruding out of the inner surface of the first wall is L3, wherein the following relationship is satisfied: L3L1-L2. The technical solution provided by the embodiments of the present application can improve the reliability and safety performance of the secondary battery.
