Abstract: The present invention relates to an Internet of Things (loT)-based smart waste management system, referred to as "SegreSense," configured to enhance the efficiency of urban waste collection and monitoring. The system comprises ultrasonic sensors, embedded microcontrollers, wireless communication modules, and a cloud-based data processing platform for real-time monitoring of waste bin fill levels, wherein the collected data is transmitted to the cloud for centralized monitoring, analysis, and optimized waste collection scheduling. The system further includes a QR code-based feedback mechanism for user interaction and a bin health scoring system for performance evaluation. Additionally, an ESP32-CAM module integrated with an artificial intelligence model is employed to capture and analyze waste images, thereby enabling classification of waste into biodegradable and non-biodegradable categories. The invention improves operational efficiency, promotes effective sanitation practices, and supports the development of smart city infrastructure.
