MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511009629 A) filed by Council Of Scientific And Industrial Research on February 04, 2025, for Selective Electrodeposition-Oxidation Process For Recovery Of Copper And Tungsten-Oxide Powder From Hard Tungsten-Copper Scrap.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a selective electrodeposition and oxidation process for the recovery of copper powder and tungsten oxide powder from hard tungsten- copper composite scrap. More particularly, the present invention relates to a process for the preparation of copper powder and tungsten oxide powder from hard tungsten-copper composite scrap by the selective electrodeposition and further oxidation process in presence of air to obtain tungsten oxide (WO3) and subsequent reduction to tungsten powder of remaining scrap. The present invention is useful for producing copper and tungsten powder utilizing industrial waste, viz. hard tungsten-copper composite scraps (components cuttings, chips, rods, etc.). The tungsten oxide recovered from hard tungsten-copper composite scraps by the oxidation processes in the form of their tungsten oxide powder can be used in the die industry and production of tungsten metal.
