Abstract: SELF-CLEANING PREFILTER APPARATUS FOR REVERSE OSMOSIS FILTRATION UNIT ABSTRACT A self-cleaning prefilter apparatus (100) for a reverse osmosis filtration unit is disclosed. The apparatus (100) comprising a prefilter housing (102) configured to accommodate a filter cartridge (104); a first pressure sensor (106) configured to generate inlet pressure data associated with water entering the prefilter housing (102); a second pressure sensor (108) configured to generate outlet pressure data associated with water exiting the prefilter housing (102); a manual override mechanism (110) configured to generate a manual flushing command; and a processing unit (112). The apparatus (100) is configured to: receive the inlet pressure data, the outlet pressure data, and the manual flushing command; determine and compare a pressure differential with a threshold value; generate a flushing control signal upon determination that the pressure differential exceeds the threshold value or upon receipt of the manual flushing command; and control initiation and termination of a flushing cycle. Claims: 10, Figures: 3 Figure 1 is selected.
