Abstract: The present invention discloses a self-evolving satellite bus architecture using mission-age-based hardware reconfiguration for enhancing spacecraft performance, reliability, and operational lifespan. The architecture includes a mission age monitoring unit, health and degradation sensors, a data handling and storage module, a reconfiguration controller, adaptive hardware blocks, a power management subsystem, and a communication subsystem. Operational parameters including mission duration, subsystem health, power consumption, and resource utilization are continuously monitored during spacecraft operation. The reconfiguration controller evaluates collected information and autonomously initiates hardware adaptations whenever predefined thresholds or degradation indicators are detected. Reconfigurable processing units, communication resources, and power distribution mechanisms are dynamically reassigned according to mission requirements and subsystem condition. A closed-loop feedback framework continuously verifies adaptation effectiveness and supports further optimization. The invention proactively mitigates hardware aging effects, improves fault tolerance, and reduces dependency on excessive redundancy. By enabling autonomous hardware evolution throughout mission life, the architecture maximizes resource efficiency and extends satellite operational capability. The invention is particularly suitable for long-duration communication, scientific, Earth observation, defense, and deep-space missions requiring resilient and adaptive spacecraft platforms.
