Abstract: SELF-HEALING BIODEGRADABLE SOFT ROBOTIC GRIPPER WITH IOT AND AI-BASED CONTROL Abstract of the Invention The present invention relates to a self-healing biodegradable soft robotic gripper integrated with Internet of Things (IoT) sensing and artificial intelligence (AI)-based digital twin control for precision agricultural harvesting. The gripper is fabricated from a tri-material biocomposite comprising polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA), cellulose nanofibers, and a hydrogel phase, providing biodegradability, mechanical compliance, and intrinsic self-healing through reversible hydrogen bonding. The structure includes gradient stiffness fingers and internal actuation channels enabling pneumatic or tendon-driven gripping of delicate agricultural produce. Embedded sensors monitor pressure, deformation, temperature, and humidity, transmitting real-time data via IoT networks to an AI-based control system. A machine learning model predicts optimal grip parameters and enables closed-loop adaptive control through a digital twin framework. The system enhances harvesting efficiency, reduces crop damage, and minimizes environmental impact by replacing conventional non-biodegradable robotic materials with sustainable alternatives while enabling intelligent, data-driven, and autonomous agricultural operations.
