MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511001803 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Delhi on January 08, 2025, for Self-Sanitized Chitosan-Copper Oxide (ch-Cuo) Textile Against Bacteriophage Virus: An Efficient Bioguard.

Inventors include Ali, Syed Wazed; Singh, Preeti; Srivastava, Mayuri; and Kale, Ravindra Dhondiba.

Abstract: With the notable rise in infections in humans there has been a significant increase in the requirement of antimicrobial bio-functional fabrics. The present invention represents an innovation in textile engineering, offering a solution that integrates antimicrobial properties directly into the fabric. The present invention aims to provide a reliable and effective solution to enhance hygiene and safety in various environments, from healthcare facilities to everyday clothing by developing a fabric that can effectively guard against bacteriophage viruses. The present invention discloses a chitosan-copper oxide (Ch-CuO) nanocomposites and a process of its preparation thereof. The present invention further discloses a treated textile having an anti-bacteriophage activity and its process of preparation thereof.
