Abstract: A sensor-based grain storage quality monitoring system and method are disclosed. The system combines direct grain-moisture sensing with independent temperature/humidity sensing and gas/VOC sensing at a single monitored grain storage unit, optionally supplemented by weight sensing for mass-loss detection. A capacitive or resistive moisture probe is positioned within the grain mass, while a digital temperature/humidity sensor and a gas/VOC sensor are positioned within the storage-unit headspace. An embedded controller, preferably an ESP32-class controller, acquires the sensor signals, derives moisture, temperature/humidity, and gas features, establishes or stores a healthy-grain baseline, and applies multi-signal decision logic. The controller classifies the storage unit as normal, degradation- suspected, or alert. When an alert criterion is satisfied, a GSM communication module transmits an SMS warning containing storage-unit identification and event information to configured personnel. A local status indicator may provide immediate indication. The sensor node may include rechargeable energy storage and solar- trickle charging and may be housed in a dust- and moisture-resistant enclosure with a retrofit mounting arrangement. The system provides a low-cost continuous early- warning layer between periodic manual sampling and is intended as an aid to grain-storage management rather than a replacement for prescribed inspection procedures.
