MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611096309 A) filed by Khalsa College Of Engineering & Technology on August 10, 2026, for Sensor-Fusion Enabled Smart Photovoltaic Monitoring System With Machine Learning For Dust Detection, Tilt Optimization, And Predictive Maintenance.

Inventors include Dr. Vijay Kumar; Prof. Dr. Manju Bala; and Dr. Girish Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: A sensor-fusion enabled smart photovoltaic monitoring system (100) includes a photovoltaic module (102) configured to generate electrical power from incident solar radiation. A sensor layer comprises a reference light sensor (104) configured to measure optical transmittance, a dust sensor (106) configured to detect surface dust accumulation, an inertial measurement unit (108) configured to measure panel tilt angle, a temperature and humidity sensor (110) configured to measure environmental conditions, and a voltage and current sensor (112) configured to measure electrical output of the photovoltaic module (102). An edge controller (214) is communicatively coupled to the sensor layer and configured to acquire time-synchronized sensor data from the sensor layer. A sensor-fusion engine (218) executed by the edge controller (214) generates derived features from the time-synchronized sensor data. A machine-learning decision layer executed by the edge controller (214) estimates a dust severity score, generates a tilt recommendation, forecasts energy yield, and calculates a maintenance-risk score based on the derived features.
