Abstract: Abstract Disclosed is a sensor pod system for monitoring cargo handling and road condition during transportation. The sensor pod system comprises a support structure mounted relative to a cargo article or transport vehicle, an inertial sensing unit carried by the support structure to generate acceleration data and angular motion data, and a processing unit that calibrates the sensed data relative to an initial orientation. The processing unit determines vibration magnitude and angular orientation and classifies a cargo condition and a road condition using threshold-based decision logic. A display unit presents status information corresponding to the classified conditions, and an alert unit generates an audible indication when an unsafe state is detected. An expansion interface communicates with a location module, communication module, or storage module to associate detected vibration, tilt, or road-condition events with location data, remote notification data, or stored event data.
