MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611109599 A) filed by Manav Rachna University on September 12, 2026, for Shell-And-Tube Heat Exchanger With Flow-Driven Tube-Surface Cleaning Sleeves.
Inventors include Dr. Bhim Singh; and Dr. Joginder Singh.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed is a shell-and-tube heat exchanger comprising a shell defining a shell-side flow path, first and second tube sheets, and multiple heat-transfer tubes extending between the tube sheets. An annular cleaning sleeve surrounds an external surface of a corresponding heat-transfer tube and moves independently within an axial travel interval bounded by first and second travel-limiting elements. A helical hydrodynamic surface disposed on the cleaning sleeve receives shell-side fluid flow and imparts concurrent axial and circumferential movement to the cleaning sleeve. A tube-contacting cleaning interface disposed on an inner circumferential surface of the cleaning sleeve dislodges deposits from the external tube surface during sleeve movement. The shell-side fluid flow transports the dislodged deposits toward a shell-side outlet while driving the cleaning sleeve without an external sleeve drive.
