Abstract: A simulation system (100) for validation, testing, training, benchmarking, and deployment of an autonomous vehicle or robotic platform, the simulation system (100) comprises hardware processor (102) configured to generate a digital twin representation of a physical environment from real-world sensing data. Hardware processor (102) further configured to generate synthetic outputs corresponding to one or more sensor modalities based on simulated state of a vehicle model operating within the digital twin representation and compute vehicle motion and interaction with environment using physics simulation module (110). Hardware processor (102) further configured to transmit the synthetic sensor outputs to an autonomy controller (104) and receive control commands therefrom, update the vehicle state responsive to the received control commands and generate subsequent synthetic sensor outputs to form a closed-loop simulation environment, and evaluate performance of the autonomy controller (104) using one or more performance metrics derived from the vehicle state and the control commands.
