Abstract: The project involves design and implementation of an automatic microcontroller based solar tracker system expected to be used in photovoltaic conversion panels. The proposed single axis solar tracker device functions to ensure the optimization of the photovoltaic panel in accordance with the real position of the sun. The operation of experimental model of the device is based on a DC motor which is intelligently controlled by a dedicated drive unit that moves a mini PV panel according to the signals received by a microcontroller from two simple but efficient light sensors. The performance and characteristics of the solar tracker device are experimentally analyzed.
