MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611064722 A) filed by Netaji Subhas University Of Technology on May 22, 2026, for Single-Unit Solid Colorimetric Reagent For Multi-Biomolecule Detection.
Inventors include Yashika; Leena Aggarwal; and Pradeep Pant.
The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT SINGLE-UNIT SOLID COLORIMETRIC REAGENT FOR MULTI-BIOMOLECULE DETECTION The present invention relates to a single unit solid state colorimetric reagent pellet for qualitative detection of multiple classes of biomolecules. The invention provides a compressed, homogeneous solid pellet incorporating a copper based reagent for protein detection, a carbohydrate responsive reagent system for detecting reducing and non reducing carbohydrates, a lipid selective staining agent, and an eco friendly stabilizing and chelating agent. All reagent components are uniformly integrated within a single mechanically stable pellet matrix. Upon activation, the pellet produces visually distinct and independently identifiable colour responses corresponding to the presence of proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids, thereby enabling multi biomolecule detection using a single reagent unit. The solid state formulation eliminates the need for multiple liquid reagents, improves stability under ambient storage conditions, and enhances portability and ease of handling. The invention is suitable for use in educational laboratories, field based testing, and resource limited environments where rapid and safe qualitative biochemical analysis is required.
