Abstract: The present invention describes a privacy-preserving device for monitoring and analyzing sleep talking at home. The apparatus includes a microphone array with an analogue front end that amplifies and filters speech signals in the 300-3400 Hz range. A multi- channel analogue-to-digital converter and digital signal processor capture and process audio, perform beamforming, and detect speech events during sleep. When speech is detected, the system analyzes the audio directly on the device using an application processor and AI accelerator. These components perform speech recognition, emotion detection, acoustic feature extraction, language analysis, and cognitive coherence classification. An optional non-contact sensor, such as radar or ballistocardiography, estimates sleep stages to provide additional context. All recorded data is compressed and encrypted locally using AES-256 encryption to maintain privacy. The device produces nightly summaries and long-term trends, helping clinicians and users monitor sleep behaviour and possible parasomnia conditions.
