Abstract: TITLE: Smart Al Street Lighting with Predictive Fault Detection ABSTRACT The present invention concerns the field of intelligent street lighting systems, smart city infrastructure, embedded electronics, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence and automation that is energy efficient. In particular, the invention concerns a Smart Adaptive Street Lighting System that can dynamically manage street lighting based on a mixture of environmental sensing, smart object detection, edge artificial intelligence, predictive maintenance technologies. Unlike the conventional automatic street lighting system using only Light Dependent Resistor (LDRs) and Passive Infrared (PIR) sensors, the present invention combines multiple sensing technologies such as ambient light sensors, radar/mmWave sensors, thermal sensors, AI-based vision sensors, environmental sensors, and wireless communication networks in order to accurately detect vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, stray animals, and emergency vehicles. The system uses an edge Al controller to categorise the objects it detects and anticipate the direction of their movement, such that any nearby street lights will then light up in advance of the object arriving at the next lighting zone. The invention also encompasses adaptive brightness control functions for solar-powered installations, dependent on traffic density, weather conditions, road visibility and battery availability. An intelligent fault diagnosis module is in continuous monitoring of the lamp status, power consumption, LED degradation, communication status and sensor functionality. Predictive analytics use historical data to predict component failures and schedule preventative maintenance, minimizing downtime. The system allows for wireless communication among the adjacent street lights via LoRa, ZigBee, NB-IoT or other low-power communication technologies, which can realize cooperative illumination and optimized energy use. With cloud connectivity you can monitor from a central location analvve vont enemy use and nndate von- firmware remotely_ and with edge comnutinu. you can keep working even if you have a communications problem. The proposed invention substantially lowers the electrical energy consumption, maintenance costs, public safety risks, LED life cycle, and supports smart city development in a sustainable way by providing autonomous, intelligent and energy-aware street lighting management.
