The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT SMART BED WITH PREDICTIVE FALL DETECTION AND AIRBAG PROTECTION A smart bed apparatus (100) for patient safety includes a bed frame (102) having a mattress surface, a sensor system (104) integrated within the mattress surface, a controller (106) coupled to the sensor system (104), inflatable airbags (108) mounted on sides of the bed frame (102), and an alert system (110). The sensor system (104) includes pressure sensors, motion detectors, and weight distribution sensors configured to monitor a patient's posture, movement patterns, and proximity to an edge of the bed. The controller (106) executes a predictive algorithm that analyzes real-time data from the sensor system (104) to identify high-risk behaviors indicative of an imminent fall risk. The inflatable airbags (108) automatically deploy when the controller (106) determines that a fall risk exists. The alert system (110) generates an alarm to notify a caregiver when the fall risk is detected.
