Abstract: This project presents the design and implementation of an electromagnetic braking system for a rotating wheel. The system operates based on the principle of electromagnetism, where braking action is achieved without physical contact. Under normal conditions, the wheel rotates freely with no resistance. When an external power supply is provided to the electromagnet through an adapter, a magnetic field is generated. This magnetic field interacts with the rotating metallic wheel (or disc), producing eddy currents that oppose the motion of the wheel according to Lenz’s Law. As a result, the wheel experiences a braking effect and gradually slows down or stops. The system offers advantages such as reduced mechanical wear, smooth operation, and improved reliability compared to conventional friction-based braking systems. This project demonstrates a simple, efficient, and contactless braking mechanism that can be applied in modern transportation and industrial systems.
