Abstract: The prem:mt invention oonoom3 a Smart Bu3 Ticketing Sy3tcm with Dynamic Scat Allocation to enhance seat utilization, passenger comfort and fairness in public transportation systems. Most traditional public buses collect fares using Electronic Ticketing Machines (ETMs) and the information of where passengers are going is only used for fare collection and not for intelligent seat management. In the current systems, seat occupancy is mostly based on the proximity of vacant seats, and not on waiting time, or on optimization logic, resulting in seat waste, passenger inconvenience and unfair distribution of seats. The proposed invention provides an intelligent seat allocation system for dynamically allocating seats based on real-time passenger on-boarding information, destination information and travel time gaps. The system is a system based on embedded controllers, loT communication modules, seat occupancy sensors, and ETM integration mechanisms. The system automatically verifies if there are available seats when a passenger steps on the bus. If there is an empty seat, then it is assigned immediately. When all the seats are full the system predicts the next seat available, based on the destination data of passengers, and pre-allocates it to the passenger waiting in advance. One of the key aspects of the invention is that several passengers can occupy the same seat for different time periods without overlap. The invention continuously monit~rs the boarding and drop-off locations, and updates the seat assignments in real-time. The solution also includes display modules and mobile notification systems to educate passengers about their assigned seats and future availability . The system is developed on an ESP based microcontroller using real-time processing embedded· software algorithms. The experimental evaluations show that the efficiency of seat usage, the fairness of allocation, passenger confusion and comfort of travel are improved when compared with conventional ticketing systems. Moreover, the invention can be readily implemented at low cost and can be easily embedded into the existing bus ETM infrastructure for minimal hardware modification. The technology is especially well suited for smart city transportation systems, for the modernization of public transport and for intelligent mobility applications.
