MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641050695 A) filed by Kalasalingam Academy Of Research And Education on April 21, 2026, for Smart Climate Controlled Breathing Mask For Cold Environment Protection.
Inventors include A. Lawrence Sahaya Sundar; and Dr. K. Vijayakumar.
The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT Title: SMART CLIMATE-CONTROLLED BREATHING MASK FOR COLD ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION This invention relates to a Smart Climate-Controlled Breathing Mask for Cold Environment Protection. It typically includes a Medical-Grade Silicone Face Seal (1), a Positive Temperature Coefficient Heating Element (2), a High-Frequency MicroVentilation Fan (3), a Multi-Layer HEPA/N95 Filter Cartridge (4), a NTC Thermistor & 10 Humidity Sensor Suite (5), a Low-Power Microcontroller Unit (6), an Insulated LithiumPolymer Battery Pack (7), a One-Way Exhalation Valves (8), a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Module (9), and an Impact-Resistant Polymer Chassis (1 0). The mask prevents cold-induced respiratory distress and frostbite by actively maintaining a warm, humidified micro- climate while eliminating condensation and fogging through 15 intelligent, sensor-driven airflow management. This specialized mask is essential for high-altitude athletes, cold-weather industrial workers, military personnel in sub-zero climates, and individuals with chronic respiratory sensitivities like asthma or COPD.
