Inventors include Dr. D. R. Rajkumar; R. Saktheevel; S. Edwin Roshan; B. Bharathi; and O. Vivin Lenin.

The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a smart composite table tennis racket blade configured to enhance topspin generation, vibration damping, and energy transfer efficiency during gameplay. The racket blade comprises hybrid natural fibres including palmyra sprout fibre, banana fibre, areca fibre, and.sisal fibre combined with synthetic E-glass fibre reinforced with polyester resin and epoxy resin. Additional damping materials including brake lining powder and chicken feathers are incorporated to reduce impact vibration and improve player comfort. The blade is fabricated using compression moulding, vacuum-assisted resin transfer moulding (VARTM), and additive manufacturing techniques to obtain optimized stiffness, flexibility, and dwell time characteristics. The developed composite structure improves torsional rigidity, frictional interaction, and ball control for enhanced topspin performance. Experimental vibration analysis demonstrates improved energy transfer and reduced vibration response compared to conventional wooden blades. The invention provides a lightweight, durable, eco-friendly, and high-performance racket blade suitable for professional and advanced table tennis applications10108 drrajkum
