The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.

Abstract: Disclosed is a smart concrete crack detection and monitoring system (100) comprising an address-coded sensing mesh (102), a dual-state crack sensing unit (104), an address decoder (108), selectively activated ultrasonic transceiver nodes, a guided visual inspection unit (114), a context compensation unit (116), a multimodal edge fusion unit (118), a crack digital twin (120), and a risk and maintenance decision unit (122). Each selected sensing cell includes an irreversible crack-event element that retains a historical crack state and a reversible crack-opening element that indicates current crack opening. Upon detection of an affected sensing-cell address, a controller (110) activates ultrasonic nodes surrounding the affected region. Ultrasonic, visual, electrical, environmental, and structural measurements are fused to estimate crack location, direction, current and historical opening, surface geometry, internal depth, propagation rate, likely cause, and confidence. The digital twin maintains successive crack states and predicts crack evolution. A risk unit generates alerts or maintenance recommendations and adaptively modifies subsequent monitoring frequency. The system thereby provides localized, energy-efficient, history-aware, and closed-loop monitoring of concrete structures.
