Abstract: SMART ENERGY FORECASTING AND OPTIMIZATION SYSTEM A smart energy forecasting and optimization system integrated appliance level IoT monitoring, machine learning forecasting, and solar aware automation via low cost ESP32 edge controllers and cloud analytics. ESP32 units measured appliance currents with SCT 013 sensors, detected occupancy via PIR/radar, and executed relay controls while transmitting telemetry to a Firebase database. Hybrid XGBoost–LSTM models forecasted day ahead/hours ahead consumption and PV generation using historical data, weather, and occupancy inputs. An automation engine shifted flexible loads to PV surplus periods under user constraints, while a dashboard displayed real time usage, forecasts, and tariff aware bill projections. Edge–cloud partitioning, TLS security, and fallback logic ensured reliability. Prototypes reduced grid draw by 28% in residential trials. No prior art unified these features in an ESP32 tuned platform.
