Abstract: We inhabit the era of electricity, which has become indispensable to our existence. Power is generated in power stations and subsequently transmitted to customers for consumption. Energy consumers, both residential and commercial, are increasingly focused on reducing their energy consumption due to feed-in tariffs for renewable resources and the recent increase in electricity prices. Intelligent energy management systems are employed to assess and enhance electricity consumption at the consumer site level. The primary objective of this study is the design and development of wireless smart plugs capable of evaluating various power parameters and collecting data on the real-time energy consumption of specific consumer appliances. Smart homes, a distinct segment of the smart grid, play a crucial role in reducing costs and consumption through the scheduling of household appliances. Consequently, user wait times will escalate. This scheduling issue is regarded as an optimization problem in this study. In recent years, the operational efficiency of smart energy development firms has been suboptimal, necessitating an urgent enhancement of the application efficiency, resilience, and sustainability of smart energy monitoring and management systems. Digital twin technology offers a data-driven approach to enhance smart energy monitoring and management systems, enabling the transformation of passive infrastructure assets into data-centric systems. This study elucidates the concept and fundamental technologies of digital twin, and devises a smart energy monitoring and management system utilizing digital twin technology, which holds dual relevance for advancing the smart energy sector and enhancing the application of digital twin.
