Abstract: ABSTRACT SMART FOOTWEAR SYSTEM FOR PRE-LOAD PREDICTIVE SURFACE FRICTION MAPPING AND AUTONOMOUS SLIP MITIGATION A smart footwear system (100) for pre-load predictive surface friction mapping and autonomous slip mitigation includes a sensing array (110) comprising a plurality of high-frequency transducers (112) embedded in outsole perimeter tread lugs of a footwear outsole (114), configured to capture micro-vibrations during initial ground contact. Each transducer (112) is encapsulated within an acoustic encapsulation pocket (116) to isolate micro-frictional texture signatures from shoe-chassis noise. A microcontroller (120) performs edge processing within a pre-load temporal window between an initial ground contact time and a peak vertical ground reaction force time, including filtering through an active high-pass hardware filter (122), digitizing via a high-speed analog-to-digital converter (124), executing a Fast Fourier Transform to extract a spectral feature vector, and classifying a ground surface condition using a machine learning classifier (126). An active mitigation assembly (130) includes an actuator-driven traction assembly (132) with extendable traction elements (134) and a haptic actuator (136) for neuromuscular feedback.
