Abstract: Smart Gloves for Deaf and Mute Communication introduces an advanced assistive technology capable of converting Indian Sign Language (ISL) gestures into audible speech in real time. The system integrates flex sensors and an MPU6050 motion sensor within wearable smart gloves to capture detailed hand and finger movements. These sensor inputs are processed by an ESP32-S3 microcontroller running a GRU-based neural network, which efficiently interprets sequential gesture patterns with reduced computational load. The recognized gestures are translated into clear audio output using a DFPlayer Mini and 3W mini speaker. Designed as a low-cost, portable and user-friendly solution, this system enhances communication between speech and hearing-impaired individuals and the general public, thereby promoting inclusivity, accessibility and independence in daily interactions.
