Abstract: A smart helmet is designed to enhance rider comfort and safety by automatically adjusting the visor position based on wind speed. The system utilizes a wind-speed sensor to detect airflow and dynamically opens or closes the visor to balance ventilation and protection. At low speeds, the visor partially opens to improve airflow, while at high speeds, it closes to shield against dust and debris. The helmet features user-defined wind- speed thresholds for customized comfort, a manual override for safety, and an internal airflow sensor to ensure adequate ventilation, addressing suffocation concerns for riders wearing face masks. This innovative solution promotes a comfortable and secure riding experience. Riders wearing helmets often face discomfort, especially when using face masks, as restricted airflow inside the helmet can lead to suffocation and unease during travel. While traditional helmets offer a manually operated visor, constantly adjusting it while riding can be inconvenient and unsafe. Keeping the visor fully closed may restrict airflow, while leaving it open exposes riders to dust, debris, and wind at high speeds. These challenges are exacerbated in situations where riders must wear masks for health or environmental reasons, further limiting airflow within the helmet. Current helmet designs lack an intelligent mechanism to balance ventilation and protection dynamically, based on changing riding conditions. To address these issues, there is a need for a smart helmet system that can automatically adjust the visor position based on external factors such as wind speed, ensuring optimal airflow, rider comfort, and protection without manual intervention. By incorporating sensors and intelligent control mechanisms, this innovation seeks to enhance the safety and convenience of helmet users in diverse travel conditions.
