Abstract: 5 A fabric-friendly intelligent ironing device (100) is disclosed, comprising a soleplate (12) with a heating element (20), an optical fabric detection sensor (40) for classifying fabric type from reflected light, a proximity sensor (50) for detecting presence or absence of a user's hand, and a microcontroller unit (30) coupled thereto. The microcontroller unit (30) regulates power to the 0 heating element (20) via a heating control circuit (70) based on the classified fabric type, and controls a retractable support leg mechanism (60) driven by at least one actuator (64) so as to retract during active use and extend to lift the soleplate (12) clear of the fabric when the user's hand is not detected. An alarm module (80) generates an audible alert after a first predetermined idle period, and the microcontroller unit (30) automatically disconnects power to the heating 15 element (20) after a further predetermined period if inactivity persists, thereby preventing fabric scorching, reducing energy wastage, and mitigating fire hazards through a coordinated, closedloop, sensor-driven safety architecture.
