Abstract: A smart laboratory assistance system is developed to provide autonomous workspace visibility and guidance to visually impaired operators during technical experiments. The architecture features a high definition camera module (2) that streams continuous visual layout data into an integrated central processing microcontroller (3) housed inside a main enclosure housing (1). A localized machine learning model unit (5) performs real-time edge classification on the image frames to identify laboratory instruments and their settings. The central processing microcontroller (3) matches the classified instrument parameters with instructions stored in a flash memory unit (4). Spoken workspace descriptions, menu selections, and proximity hazard notifications are generated instantly using a localized text-to-speech routine. The synthesized voice data is processed by an audio amplifier IC (6) and sent to a voice output speaker (7) or headphone interface jack (11). The system operates completely offline, improving safety and learning equity for low- vision individuals in technical education rooms.
