Abstract: Nanotechnology has emerged as an important area of research in biological sciences due to its wide range of applications and potential benefits. In agriculture, conventional granular urea is widely used as a major source of nitrogen for crop cultivation. However, the excessive use of conventional urea is associated with several drawbacks, including nutrient losses through leaching, soil contamination, reduced nutrient-use efficiency, and the emission of greenhouse gases into the environment. In contrast, nano-urea offers a more sustainable and eco-friendly alternative due to its enhanced nutrient use efficiency, reduced wastage, and cost-effective application. The present study was conducted using four experimental treatments: 1. Control (without urea or nano-urea application); 2. Granulated urea applied (5 g); 3. nanourea (25%; 5 ml); and 4. nanourea (100%; 5 ml). The treatments were applied through foliar spraying, which has been shown to be an effective method for improving nutrient utilisation efficiency by facilitating the absorption of nutrients through the leaves. The experimental findings demonstrated that plants treated with urea and nano-urea exhibited improved growth and biochemical composition compared with the untreated control plants. Among the treatments, nano-urea application resulted in the most significant enhancements of the analysed parameters. The treated plants recorded increased levels of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, phenolic compounds, amino acids, carbohydrates, tannins, proteins, and flavonoids, indicating improved physiological performance and overall plant growth.
