Abstract: ABSTRACT A SMART ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTICS SYSTEM AND METHOD An on-board diagnostic (OBD) system [100] and a method for two-wheeled vehicles and other vehicles, that automates the detection and interpretation of engine and component errors. The system includes a hardware module [102] that plugs into the vehicle's diagnostic port to extract raw error codes from the ECU [101]. The system retrieves diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), interprets them into sensor- specific intelligence, and provides image-based visualization, multilingual text, and voice-assisted troubleshooting guidance in 22 Indian languages. These codes are wirelessly transmitted to a mobile application [103], which automatically cross-references the codes with a database [104] to instantly display a plain-language description [105], severity [106], and repair steps [107], including voice output [108], to the user, eliminating the need for manual lookup of alphanumeric diagnostic trouble codes in service manuals.
