MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611099411 A) filed by Noida International University on August 17, 2026, for Smart Patient Bed System For Fall Risk Prediction And Prevention.
Inventor includes Ashish P Rao.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a Smart Patient Bed System for fall risk prediction and prevention in hospital and healthcare environments. The system comprises a sensing layer including pressure sensors, load cells, bed rail sensors, movement detection sensors (IMU), and a camera for continuous monitoring of patient position, movement, posture, and activity. The collected data are processed through an edge processing and monitoring layer consisting of a data acquisition unit and patient activity monitoring module. A machine learning–based Fall Risk AI Prediction Engine analyzes the processed data to classify the patient’s fall risk as low, medium, or high and generates a risk score with a confidence level. Upon detection of a high-risk condition, a response and action layer activates nurse station alarms, automatic brake locking, and staff alert notifications. The system may further integrate with hospital EHR/EMR systems, cloud analy
