Abstract: The invention discloses a method for phytoremediation of petroleum-contaminated soil using a combination of Impatiens balsamina L. and petroleum-degrading microorganisms. The plant releases photosynthetic by-products that stimulate microbial activity, while the microorganisms degrade petroleum hydrocarbons in the soil. This method promotes a mutualistic relationship between the plant and microbes, enhancing the overall efficiency of the remediation process. By continuously repeating this cycle, petroleum contaminants are gradually reduced to acceptable levels, making this method an effective and sustainable solution for soil detoxification. The approach offers potential for application in diverse environmental conditions, including urban and landscaped areas.
