The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.

Abstract: The increasing emphasis on precision and minimally invasive techniques in oral and maxillofacial surgery has highlighted the limitations of conventional retractors, which rely entirely on manual force and lack any mechanism to monitor or regulate applied pressure. This invention introduces an adaptive pressure-regulated surgical retractor designed to ensure safe and controlled tissue retraction through an integrated sensing and modulation system. The device incorporates a pressure sensor at the tissue contacting blade, which continuously detects applied force and relays it to a feedback module providing visual alerts. A key feature of the invention is an auto tension modulation mechanism that permits controlled displacement of the blade when a preset force threshold is exceeded, thereby preventing excessive pressure on tissues. The instrument also includes an adjustable calibration system for setting safe force limits. This innovation enhances surgical safety, reduces tissue trauma, and improves overall clinical outcomes.
