Abstract: The present invention relates to an Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart temperature control system for poultry farms configured to automatically monitor and regulate environmental conditions within poultry sheds to maintain an optimal environment for poultry health, welfare, and productivity. The invention integrates an environmental sensing module, a microcontroller-based control unit, relay-controlled cooling and heating mechanisms, a water level sensing module, and an Internet of Things (IoT) communication module to provide continuous environmental monitoring, automated control, and remote supervision with minimal human intervention. The environmental sensing module continuously measures the ambient temperature within the poultry shed and transmits the sensed data to the microcontroller-based control unit for processing. The control unit compares the measured temperature with predefined upper and lower threshold values stored within the system and executes threshold-based control logic to maintain suitable environmental conditions. When the measured temperature exceeds the predetermined upper threshold, the control unit automatically activates the cooling mechanism comprising one or more exhaust fans and an automated misting unit to reduce the ambient temperature. Conversely, when the temperature falls below the predetermined lower threshold, the control unit activates the heating mechanism to restore the desired environmental conditions. Before initiating the misting operation, the control unit verifies the availability of water using the water level sensing module. If sufficient water is available, the misting unit operates normally to provide evaporative cooling. If the water level is insufficient, the system suspends misting operation and generates an alert notification to prevent ineffective operation and ensure reliable system performance. The IoT communication module continuously transmits real-time temperature readings, water level status, actuator status, and other operational information to a cloud platform or mobile application, enabling remote monitoring, instant alert generation, historical data logging, and manual override of system operations whenever required. The proposed invention operates continuously in a closed-loop manner by repeatedly acquiring environmental data, processing the sensed information, executing appropriate control actions, and updating the system status. By automating environmental regulation and minimizing manual intervention, the invention improves poultry welfare, enhances growth and productivity, reduces heat stress, optimizes water and energy consumption, lowers labour requirements, and provides a reliable, efficient, scalable, and cost-effective environmental management solution suitable for small-, medium-, and large-scale poultry farming operations.
