Abstract: The present invention relates to a smart UV-C based sponge sterilization and drying device designed to improve hygiene and prevent bacterial growth in cleaning sponges. The device comprises an enclosed sterilization chamber equipped with UV-C light sources for eliminating bacteria, fungi, viruses, and other harmful microorganisms present in wet sponges. Following sterilization, a forced-air drying assembly including a heating element and air circulation fan removes retained moisture from the sponge to prevent microbial regrowth and odor formation. The device further incorporates humidity and temperature sensing modules operatively connected to a microcontroller-based control system for automated operation, moisture monitoring, and safety regulation. Additional safety features include UV- resistant housing, automatic UV shut-off upon opening of the chamber, and overheating protection mechanisms. The invention provides a compact, energy-efficient, and user-friendly solution for maintaining hygienic kitchen sponges and reducing risks associated with microbial contamination and cross-contamination.
