Abstract: ABSTRACT SMARTPHONE-BASED SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR COLORIMETRIC SCREENING OF DIABETIC KIDNEY DISEASE USING DEEP LEARNING The present invention relates to a smartphone-based system (100) and method for colorimetric screening of diabetic kidney disease. A test strip and reference assembly (110) comprises a urine dipstick test strip (111) and a white-light reference (112). A mobile device (120) having a camera (121), a mobile application (122) and a result display and history module (125) captures an image of the strip and reference and conveys it over a communication network (130) to a cloud processing server (140). The server (140) comprises a region-of-interest segmentation module (141), a reference-based colour calibration module (142), a colour- space mapping module (143), a classification module (144) and a prediction and response generation module (145), a trained model store (150) supplying the model. The image is calibrated using the white-light reference without dedicated hardware, segmented, mapped and classified into a disease stage returned for display. [
