Abstract: A smartphone restriction system (100) includes a smart pouch (104) configured to receive a smartphone, the smart pouch (104) having a pouch body with a magnetic lock (608) configured to secure the smartphone within the smart pouch (104), a caller display notch (604) with a transparent region aligned with a caller display area of the smartphone to permit visibility of caller information, and a call response notch (606) with a transparent region aligned with a call response area of the smartphone to permit call interaction. An unlocking station (108) authenticates a user (102) and releases the magnetic lock (608) upon authorization. A Faraday storage unit receives the smartphone and blocks wireless signals from the smartphone when the smartphone is deposited therein. A secure pager device receives approved alerts and transmits predefined responses. A backend server (112) coupled to a policy engine (510) and a database (512) stores policy rules defining deployment modes (700) including a standard mode and a confidential mode (708), enables call interaction through the caller display notch (604) and the call response notch (606) based on an emergency contact whitelist in the standard mode, and in the confidential mode (708) disables call interaction, requires deposition of the smartphone in the Faraday storage unit, and routes approved notifications to the secure pager device.
